1. Dana Hotel & Spa (Chicago, USA)

With around 200 rooms, wonderful interior design, excellent service and the hotel screams boutique style makes it even more interesting. The rooms feel large, very comfortable and give you the feeling of high standard approach with a twist. A must stay when you are in Chicago.

2. Hotel Basico (Playa del Carmen, Mexico)

Runner on number 2 is Hotel Basico or should I say Hotel Bad. The design and looks are great and they really tried to focus on the design. However everything ells in the hotel is far behind when it comes to service, standards, customer understanding and quality control. The sea view suite is actually a lie, there is no offer of an sea view in this hotel, in fact it is focused on the street with huge windows were everyone can see in. The guest recommendation on all interent sits are really low except for their own homepage which means that they lie on that as well. During night time the DJ spins loud house music and if you do not want the loud music, they offer you earplugs instead of having thicker walls. Basically very bad and horrid.

3. Park Hotel (Tokyo, Japan)

Great location with spectacular decor a very service minded staff and great price for all of it. Park Hotel brings Tokyo a brand new concept of luxury with great value. A highly recommended hotel to stay in when visiting Tokyo in Japan.

4. Zhaolong Hotel (Beijing, China)

It says proudly on the wall that they are a 5 star rated hotel, however when I sit in the lobby bar I wounder. The interior is really old and ugly. The Food & Beverage staff are quite ok, however they have no knowledge about beverages. The wine list is not a wine list but filled with, excuse my language, shit wine. When my wine was provided as corcked they simlpy did not belive me and did not understand what was wrong. Instead they tried to lecture me on how wine should be. Even if I was wrong, why bother. You are suppose to have 5 star service. No arguments against the customer for a simple bottle of wine. I have even heard the scary rumors of guests finding cut finger nails and uncleaned sheets on the bed. 5 star? I dont think so.

5. Nordic Light (Stockholm, Sweden)

Part of the group Design Hotels which gives the most amazing Nordic designs around the world. The interior and environment around the hotel feels very Scandinavian and cheek. 6. Crowne Plaza Mulinara (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

One of the older hotels in Kuala Lumpur and used to be under the name Hilton. However IHG group hotel claimed the management and has been runing it since 2004. We have traveled with IHG for many times and each time has been an awarding stay, however this hotel did not furfill there promise, not even that, they even tried to blaim us. That there mistake was actually our fault. I can understand that sometimes guests can be over demanding and ask for a lot however the hotel management or staff should never try to blaim it on the guests. The guest should never feel that it is there fault in any situations.

7. Kerry Centre Hotel - Shangri-La (Beijing, China)

When me and my fiancee were going to enjoy an evening in the hotel lounge, Centro, for some drinks we were lucky enough to stumble in on their happy hour. If you order one drink you will get another for free. After the first cocktail was enjoyed we simply ordered from the menu. Once the bill came they charged us for 2 cocktails per person. When we asked, they simply said you have to take another one of the same. Even though the price difference was only 2 RMB (around 50 US cents). After long fights, the waiter simply said: -You are ok for this time but next time you order, you better not do this mistake again. 5 star hotel? Criticising and insulting the customer after imbarising them. Not good. Overall the service is really bad in this hotel. You get the impression that the staff do not think that they should serve other people. The attitude of the staff is totaly wrong and most of the times rude.

8. Jia Shanghai (Shanghai, China)

JIA Shanghai is a luxury-residence concept. Inside it edges closer to design-magazine luxe, with bold graphic colour schemes, an impressive collection of modern furnishings, and bathrooms decked out in marble and Bisazza mosaic tile. Rooms and suites are bright and sunny, especially those with balconies, and all come with entertainment centres, and free wireless internet, as well as a smattering of local colour in the form of Chinese antiques.

9. Hotel-G (Beijing, China)

Very interesting design hotel with good prices, fine service amazing prices in their wine bar / restaurant, however the wine list is poor and boring. On Thursday evenings you can get as much tapas as you want on there selected menu for 88 RMB. The hotel design is amazing and has the modern touch that brings Beijing boutique hotel standards to another level.

10. Langtry Manor (Bournemouth, United Kingdom)

Bournemouth is one of the best cities to find great value hotels around the world. Especially for leisure and business travellers that is located among 4 star hotels. One hotel in particular that we liked was the Langtry Manor which gives you a luxurious feeling with a very reasonable price. The staffs are friendly and the hotel gives you a feeling of home. This hotel made this list just because it gives you a personal touch to the hotel experience.
