Ingredience

The Vesper consists of:
3 measures of gin – Gordon’s is Mr. Bond’s choice
1 measure of vodka – Bond preferred a grain vodka, like Smirnoff
0,5 measure of Kina Lillet – Kina Lillet hasn’t been made since 1985 and a substitute would be Lillet Blanc, made by the same company, Lillet, based in Podensac, France.
A lemon peel

The ingredients are shaken over ice until cold, served in a cocktail glass with a slice of lemon peel for garnish.

 

The Vesper

The first of Ian Flemings James Bond novels that was written, Casino Royale, had it’s movie premiere in November 2006. Gone was Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, who had played Mr. Bond in the last 4 movies, and in came Daniel Craig. In Casino Royale Mr. Bond plays poker against “the bad guy” Le Chiffre, and orders a drink we’ve never seen in the other 20 Bond movies. The drink is a cocktail drink called The Vesper, and is a bit different from the usual vodka martini that James Bond usually drinks.
