Vodka

Vodka is one of the world’s most popular distilled beverages. It is a liquid containing ethanol purified by distillation from a fregmented substance such as grain or molasses. Except various types of flavourings which vodka can be used. However vodkas basic ingredients is water and alcohol.

The alcohol content can vary from 35%~50% by volume. Some classics like Russian and Polish vodka contains of 40% alcohol. This can be attributed to the Russian vodka production standards which were introduced in 1894 by Alexander III (3rd). According to the Vodka Museum in Moscow the perfect percentage is 38. Some governments set a minimum alcohol content for a spirit to be called "vodka". For example, the European Union sets a minimum of 37.5% alcohol by volume. The most popular consumers are countries like Russia, the Baltic States and the Nordic Countries; however it has grown significantly because of its important role in cocktails.

A very famous label in the world that is Swedish is Absolut Vodka. It has the most successful marketing strategy ever within the field of alcohol. No other label has ever market itself and positioned itself on the market by marketing as the Swedish label Absolut Vodka.

Bond

007 James Bond has always been an important spokesman of vodka and its wonders. Shaken not stirred! However, lately a new introduced cocktail has been made for the new character of James Bond. It is called the Vesper (above). However, still many prefers the old classical one, vodka martini, shaken not stirred. The first one to introduce vodka in a James Bond film was the lovely Scottishman Sean Connery in Dr No, were Smirnoff provides the qualified vodka from Russia. Kind of interesting because of the enemy often appears to be some former Soviet Union bad guy. You have to remeber that during these difficult times the Cold War was at the hotest play. Although the "hitman/spy" from the world of democracy prefers vodka before other beverages. I wounder if the same would appear if the tables were turned?
